And if I was a reviewer (free from any particular Tommy-affliction), my mini review would probably say thus: A silly, quite stupid and very shallow film which still manages to be entertaining for most of the time. And I’d give it a 2 popcorns out of 5. But since I AM afflicted by the Hardy-disease, I will say this: GOD DAMMIT IS HE GORGEOUS IN THIS FILM!  It’s really quite devastating. He’s looks so amazingly good and is so wonderfully charming and sweet that I don’t understand how anyone else comes into the picture at all. Tom won’t win any acting accolades for this role (even though he’s still very good), it’s a far too thinly penciled character, but he will win a lot of love for just being him. I mean, DAMN. Also, I’d love to see the movie Tom seems to have in his head, about a spy having trouble getting dates and having to search out online dating sites. That wasn’t really explored here, but it sounds like a much better movie. If Tom hadn’t been in this film, I wouldn’t have seen it all, but if I had, I’m quite sure it wouldn’t have been even a fraction as charming as it managed to be in parts, without Tom in it. So yeah, definitely worth it to ogle Tom Hardy. YES.  Got to see it this morning and yes.  This is his most gorgeous role yet.  Hotter than Handsome Bob even.  Hotter than Handsome Bob.  Seeing that on the big screen is worth the price of admission alone, but he’s also funny and sweet and how is it any sort of contest???  And all those reviews saying the friendship between FDR and Tuck is more central, engaging, and developed are absolutely right.  It’s more a buddy comedy than a rom-com and really just light, enjoyable fluff. I admit I would have rented it eventually even without Tom because I’ll watch the cheesiest of rom-coms for $1, but no, it wouldn’t have been anywhere near as entertaining as it was without him.  Who were the original actors considered?  Sam Worthington, Seth Rogen, Bradley Cooper?  Ahahaha no.  Nowhere near as charming.  And if I didn’t know who Tom was before, I’d be enamored now and Googling like mad. Yet my friends, who went more for Chris Pine and the promise of the Reese Witherspoon rom-com, still preferred Pine in looks at the end.  There’s just no hope for them.  I despair.
