I never realized that the PBS Downton Abbey is different from the UK one, and now I’m watching it on TV with my mom instead of downloaded from the UK and they keep slicing out bits of dialogue and squishing episodes together (this one is episodes 7 and 8 of season 2 and THINGS ARE MISSING) and it is not okay. NOT OKAY.

WAIT, WHAAAAA??? Have I been led astray?! I watched season 1 on Netflix and now season 2 on PBS. Am I missing things???

Netflix probably had the US version too.  Masterpiece frequently cuts off 10 minutes, I assume for the advertising at the beginning and end, and even keeps that abridged version for the DVDs.  It’s annoying when you go to buy it then because you have to decide if you want to deal with region 2 or lose those 10 minutes.  It’s just further enticement to download the originals, really.  They’re only hurting themselves.
